Patrick Collins
Marine Ecologist/Taxonomist

Patrick has worked with Hebog Environmental since 2003.
He has a BSc in Marine Science and an MSc in Marine Biology. He has considerable experience in identification of benthic invertebrates from UK and Irish waters. In recent years he has worked at Duke University Marine Laboratory in the USA completing the first quantitative biological baseline survey of a deepwater sulphide massive earmarked for gold and copper mining. Experienced in the use of ROV sampling platforms and SPI cameras in deep water he has also had intensive training from Monterrey Bay Aquarium & Research Institute in DNA barcoding as a tool in the taxonomy and ecology of deep water invertebrate fauna. This work has necessitated the development of a valuable network of contacts with some of the world’s best deepwater marine taxonomists.
